Murtaza’s Success Story!
This is the phenomenal story of a newborn diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) only 20 days after birth. Little Murtaza had VSD – Ventricular Septal Defect, better known as a hole in the heart, the most common congenital heart defect. VSD is a birth defect in which there is a hole in the wall (septum) that separates the two lower chambers (ventricles) of the heart. Symptoms include shortness of breath, paleness, fast heart rate etc.
Murtaza’s family was absolutely devastated when they found out that he needed heart surgery only a few weeks after being born. Immense happiness turned into tremendous sadness. To make matters even worse, they could not afford the recommended procedure, a VSD Closure. Murtaza’s father is a labourer, who solely takes care of his whole family, which includes his wife and 5 other children. Labourers in Pakistan, especially up north in the country where Murtaza’s family is from, earn a very low income.
Thankfully though, organizations like ours exist to help out families like Murtaza’s. We managed to arrange all the funds required for this incredibly brave infant’s heart surgery as soon as we possibly could. Along with the prayers of Murtaza’s family and well-wishers, our remarkable team of healthcare professionals managed to save this little one’s life, as his surgery was a massive success!
Murtaza turned out to be a newborn who was born a fighter. With the help of our amazing donors, his heart is now in impeccable condition. His family is eternally grateful to PCHFNA. These are the stories that inspire and motivate us to do all we can for families affected by CHD.
