Sarah’s Success Story!
Sarah was diagnosed with a rare Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) known as TOF (Tetralogy Of Fallot). TOF is a heart defect that can be fatal if left untreated. The name refers to 4 heart problems which occur simultaneously, decreasing the amount of oxygen in the bloodstream.
The planned treatment for TOF is a procedure called a Total Correction. It is relatively expensive and Sarah’s family did not have sufficient means to pay for it. Sarah’s father is a farmer who takes care of the entire family by himself. The family includes Sarah’s sister, brother and mother who is a housewife.
They needed a massive amount of support and were referred to us by a leading Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon based in Lahore, Pakistan. Luckily for Sarah and her family, they came to the right place, as we are blessed to be among the best at treating children suffering from Congenital Heart Disease (CHD).
With our world-class facilities and phenomenal healthcare professionals on board, we were able to make all the necessary arrangements required for Sarah’s surgery. We have years of experience dealing with similar cases and hence everything was done very swiftly. From initial consultations to accommodation to preparations for the actual surgery, it was all taken care of.
With the whole family constantly praying for Sarah’s wellbeing, we were also doing our utmost to save her precious life. A few agonising hours of the procedure were to follow, after which we were delighted to inform everyone that the heart surgery was a resounding success!
Sarah was to be discharged as a 3-year-old ‘CHD Survivor’, and we are thankful beyond words to our incredible donors. Without their generous contribution, none of this would be possible. They are the key towards ensuring that we are able to save young lives like Sarah’s.
1 in 100 children are born with CHD, the world’s most common birth defect. We hope that success stories of children like Sarah, who can now live a normal life, inspire more people to join us on the journey to conquering CHD, and help us shape a brighter future.
