This is the remarkable story of Taimur, a child immensely cherished by his family. Taimur was diagnosed with a rare Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) known as Tetralogy Of Fallot (TOF), which can be fatal if left untreated. The name refers to 4 heart problems which occur simultaneously, decreasing the amount of oxygen in the bloodstream.
The treatment for TOF is a relatively expensive procedure called a Total Correction. With limited resources at their disposal, Taimur’s family found it unaffordable and were in tremendous distress about the whole ordeal. Taimur’s father is a labourer who solely supports his whole family, which includes Taimur’s mother and sister.
The distraught family was in desperate need of financial support. Fortunately for them, seeking help in numerous ways, they eventually found their way to us, one of the premier institutions for providing treatment to deserving and needful children suffering from CHD.
We ensure that our patients have access to world-class healthcare facilities, irrespective of their financial means. Not only that, but from doctor’s consultations to accommodation, we also fully take care of all other formalities. For Taimur and his family, this was to be no different.
Following a swift registration process, we were able to make all the required arrangements for Taimur’s heart surgery. With a phenomenal donor base for which we are eternally grateful for, the funds needed were also arranged in practically no time. Taimur’s father was commendably able to arrange half of the funds needed for the surgery as well.
With a brilliant team of healthcare professionals to perform the surgery, we reassured Taimur’s family, who were constantly praying for their son’s health, that everything would be alright. However, the only way their anguish could go away was receiving the news that their son’s surgery was successful.
Blessedly, that is exactly what happened. Taimur’s heart surgery was a resounding success! We couldn’t be happier to inform the family and see tears of joy trickle down their faces. Their son’s precious life had been saved and their faith in humanity was restored. Taimur was discharged as a ‘CHD Warrior’ and his family was grateful to us beyond measure.
1 in 100 children are born with CHD, the world’s most common birth defect. We hope that these stories inspire even more people to join us on our journey to conquering CHD, so that we can shape a brighter future.
