Affaq’s Success Story!
This is the remarkable story of a child, diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD), at just 2 years of age. Imagine the plight of parents who have to see their little bundle of joy go through a life-threatening ordeal.
Brave, little Affaq was born with a VSD – Ventricular Septal Defect, better known as a hole in the heart, the most common congenital heart defect. In VSD there is a hole in the wall (septum) that separates the two lower chambers (ventricles) of the heart. Symptoms include shortness of breath, paleness, fast heart rate etc.
Affaq’s family was completely distraught when they found out that he needed heart surgery. To make things worse, they were unable to afford the recommended procedure, a VSD Closure. Affaq’s father is a Police Constable, who solely takes care of his whole family, which includes his wife and two children. Police Constables in Pakistan, especially in remote areas or villages where this family is from, earn a relatively low income.
Thankfully though, organizations like ours exist to help out families like Affaq’s. We managed to arrange all the funds required for this exceptionally spirited child’s heart surgery as soon as we possibly could. Along with the prayers of Affaq’s family and well-wishers, our remarkable team of healthcare professionals managed to save his life, as the surgery was a resounding success!
Affaq went through something no child should have to go through. However, with the help of our phenomenal donors, his heart is now in perfect condition. His scars shall remain a symbol of strength throughout his life.
